This is Resident Evil 1 for the Gameboy Color. Stop racking your brain trying to recall playing this in your childhood, because it was never released! Until now...
Following the success of the original PlayStation edition Resident Evil in 1996, Capcom expanded the game in a number of ports - one of those planned was for the Game Boy Color. In 1999, HotGen Studios, Ltd., a company in the United Kingdom, was selected by Capcom to port the game.
A game that until recently was probably one of the most desired "lost" games in the video game universe. People were known to sacrifice their first, second, and even third born children in hopes it would please the gaming gods into leaking the prototype of Resident Evil 1 GBC port. Around November someone on the Assembler Forums mentioned that they knew someone who had the fabled prototype. Usually this is where the tale ends, but this guy was someone who was highly respected, and known to have these kinda connections. He held a fundraiser for the contact who owned the game, once the goal would be met, he would release the rom for public enjoyment. The goal was met many months before the deadline(March)and the owner graced us with 2 versions of the game.
Cart 1 is a more playable complete version(considered about 90% finished)
Cart 2 features no Load Option, nor has Jill's story. It features more slim Sprites, different starting inventory, and different text font. It is a lot more incomplete and not really playable beyond messing around.
